Participate in an historic citizen lobbying effort to create a  Cabinet-level Department of Peace, as the legislation is re-introduced in the House of Representatives as a tribute to victims of September 11th. The bill is sponsored by Congressman Dennis Kucinich. 

The primary function of a United States Department of Peace would be to research, articulate and facilitate nonviolent solutions to domestic and international conflict. The Department would focus on nonmilitary peaceful conflict resolutions, prevent violence and promote justice and democratic principles to expand human rights.

2006 Ghandian Conference on Nonviolence

September 10-11, 2006

The third annual Gandhian Nonviolence Conference, sponsored by the M.K. Gandhi Institute and hosted by Georgetown University, will be held in Washington, DC on September 10, 2006.

Then, on September 11, 2006, help commemorate the 100th anniversary of MK Ghandi's first nonviolent public action by gathering at the Lincoln Memorial for a Day of Peace and Reconciliation.

The M.K. Ghandi Institute for Nonviolence seeks to apply the principles of nonviolence to prevent violence and resolve personal and public conflict locally, nationally and globally through education, research, public outreach, and intervention.
